I initiated the Folk Art Festival simply
because I believe folk arts are popular,
easy to understand and loved by everyone
at any age.
In this land of multiple ethnic groups we
have rich resources of multiple folk arts -
choral, dancing, instruments and many
others. When different folk arts are
merged and crossbred, they often become
more developed and enriched. Further
more, in performing different arts, the
performers of different ethnic groups are
brought together, resulting in better
understanding and cooperation among
them. It is not exaggerating to say that such
activities will help develop harmony and
peace in the world. With these ideas in
mind, we planned the Annual Folk Art
Festival.
In the first year, we'll have only Chinese
and American performers. The festival is
an annual event and in the future, a variety
of folk arts and performers will be
presented.
My colleagues have all worked very hard
for the First Annual Folk Art Festival on
August 27, 2006. I appeal to every visitor
to this website to support us and to attend
the Festival.
